Frankly I didn't understand the purpose of this movie, because everything seems so rarefied and somewhat fake, and the script limps from the beginning to the end. Mezzogiorno's performance, on the contrary, is strong and passionate.

"Exercise of style" is often a pretty abused expression to indicate a movie (or else) that is a sort of showoff of the director: in this case, unfortunately, it's totally appropriate. It's not a failure (Silvio Orlando's performance is monumental and the visual aspect is awesome), but Sorrentino's approach, in my opinion, has undertaken an insubstantial direction. Mark: 6.5 / 10
