Ma Rainey's Black Bottom

Based on the play by August Wilson, depicting a turbulent recording session in 1927 in which the Mother of Blues Ma Rainey and her band were involved, this movie is undoubtedly satisfactorily written and staged, but it's the acting that shines: Davis and Boseman, in fact, are simply stunning.
